Aldershot midfielder James Rowe has been ruled out for almost the remainder of the season following a 'freak accident' involving a bottle of popular drink, Ribena.

Rowe, who used to be on the books at Reading, dropped the bottle on his kitchen floor and stood on a bit of the shattered glass.

The 27-year-old joined Aldershot from Cheltenham Town last year and has bagged once this term in nine appearances, however, he now faces a spell on the sidelines.

Shots assistant manager said: "James is a long-term one and he's nowhere near coming back at the moment.

"It was a freak accident at home, unfortunately, I believe. It's going to be months rather than weeks he's out for. It's hopefully not going to be the rest of the season, but it is a serious one."

Aldershot are 13th in the National League following a mixed start to the season with seven wins, three draws and nine defeats.
