Ledley King was often known for his poise, reading of the game and tough tackling in his playing days but the Spurs legend perhaps wasn't particularly known for moments of magic when he took to the pitch. He did, however, have a few aces up his sleeve when he pranked some unassuming Spurs fans ahead of the Everton game at Wembley earlier this season.

As part of William Hill's official betting partnership with Tottenham Hotspur, King was paired with magician Magical Bones, who taught him a couple of tricks of the trade.

After a month of intensive practice, Ledley was disguised with dreadlocks, beard and glasses as well as prosthetics and ready to wow the masses.

After performing his tricks he revealed himself using one of his tricks to the joy of the fans, many of whom had claimed that he was "Mr Tottenham" and a "Spurs Legend" over the course of the day, not knowing that they were due to meet their hero.

Ledley said "I'd always wanted to try some tricks out and this was the perfect opportunity, although I was more nervous doing them than I was when I used to take to the pitch."

Joe Crilly, spokesman for William Hill added: "We are focusing on giving our customers more and here we gave 15 Spurs fans, not only the full VIP treatment but the chance of a lifetime to meet one of their idols. Ledley was a great sport and it turns out that he is almost as good a magician as he was a player and a cracking sport to boot."
