Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 5 Preview

Looking ahead to Fantasy Football Gameweek 5, @FantasyYIRMA has frisked the fixtures to try and make sense of where the points are going to come from in this week's games.

This week has brought many things. pouring rain, back to school traffic and the return of European football. Whilst I am physically giddy humming the Champions League tune around the house the return of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night football (Sorry Everton/Arsenal) brings with it problems.

Case in point. Paul Pogba may have his own emoji and a weekly hairstyle change but following Tuesday's Champions League match he also has a spell on the sidelines for anything from 2-6 weeks with an injury. Absolute ballache for fantasy owners.

European Competition definitely has pro's and con's though - For example.

Pro - Eastenders off my television

Con - Greater potential for squad rotation

Pro - Money to be won playing in Yahoo Champions League Fantasy

Con - Actually - I've been outvoted - Eastenders is back on the TV and I've been relegated to another room.

Disregarding my blatant hatred for the soaps the squad rotation possibilities for the bigger teams make it more advisable to wait till the end of the week to make any major transfers.

And that my friends is the legitimate reason why this post is put up on a Friday. Nothing to do with my own personal procrastination... no no.. not at all.

ANYWAY - here's some fantasy players for GW5 and hold on...wait for it... no I remember how to do it...

GAMEWEEK 5 DEADLINE IS FRIDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER AT 19:00PM

1.DEFENDER

Having just watched Saed Kolasinac score another Arsenal goal I was tempted to throw him in but a quick look at the fixture list and a match up against Chelsea made me lose the testicular fortitude to make such a ballsy defender pick.

Barring Liverpool in GW6, Leicester have a decent run of fixtures coming up. This week they face a Huddersfield team who admittedly started the season fantastically well came unstuck in GW4 against West Ham.

Danny Simpson did his best Mathieu Flamini impression last season in terms of picking up a fair share of yellow cards (12 in total) but he has managed to control his discipline so far this season.

There's an element of doubt surrounding the availability of Huddersfield front man Steve Mounie with a minor injury concern but regardless of him starting I think Leicester have a decent shout of keeping a clean sheet this week.

And following this I'm putting a bet on Danny Simpson for first booking

2.MIDFIELDER

With Mane out through suspension there's a case to look at Coutinho this week but for me he looked off the pace midweek against Sevilla in the Champions League. The aforementioned Pogba is out with injury so that could open the door for one of Herrera or Fellaini but that doesn't overly inspire me with warm fuzzy fantasy feelings either.

Spurs take on Swansea at Wembley and my feeling is that with Dele Alli sitting on his arse this week following a European suspension he should be raring to go.

Spurs were very impressive midweek against a strong Borussia Dortmund side and if they can use that Wembley win to try and build some momentum in a Stadium which has the potential to become a bit of a headache for the team it will serve them well moving forward this season.

Pick Alli, don't pick Alli - Friend or Foe - makes no difference - He'll still give you the finger.

3.FORWARD

Season Preview, GW1, GW2, GW3, GW4. In each of the previous 5 posts I've contributed for the Bible Boys I've kissed Harry Kane's arse because I think he is epic. I stuck with Harold through the long painful summer month of August where it is now scientifically proven that he is physically incapable of scoring. Fear not - he finally scored last week so I can now pick another player as my forward pick.

This week I'm going for Harry Kane Gabriel Fernando de Jesus. Man City take on Watford. Whilst I'm a fan of what Marco Silva is doing down at Watford I fear for them this weekend with a number of defensive issues.

Cathcart is a long injury with no immediate return but Britos suspended, Watford boss Silva has confirmed that both Kaboul and Prodl are out for gameweek 5. Jesus is seemingly Pep's favourite so I'm hoping that he can avoid the rotation Roulette nonsense and rack up the points this week. He helped win me money last week in the Yahoo game - Oh yeah... I won the Oddsbible Yahoo special. I'm considering retiring champ from that league just to piss the Bible Boy's off but it's easy money.

And if all else fails - Just go with Harry Kane anyway.

FantasyYIRMA started in 2012 as one of the first Fantasy Football blog accounts focused primarily on news and previews for the Premier League. Now after covering 195 consecutive Fantasy Premier League gameweeks we have a slight idea of what we're talking about however feel we could've qualified as essentially anything else if the time had been spent more productively
