Martin Tyler's Greatest Commentary Moments Will Give You Goosebumps Galore

Here's our special tribute to the best commentator in the business.

Five years ago today, Manchester City scored twice in stoppage time to be crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 44 years and every Manchester United supporter rang in sick the following Monday.

For me, I'll always remember the moment Martin Tyler screamed "You'll never see anything like this ever again" as Roberto Mancini jumped on Brian Kidd, as if he was the only girl in the world who said 'yes' to drinks on a weekend with the lads.

Isn't it funny how, unconsciously commentators are so influential in your thoughts and memories.

How many times have you shouted a players' name in the voice of Martin Tyler or Andy Gray during a kick about with mates. "AGUUUUUUERO" is a personal favourite, especially when a rare last minute goal on FIFA goes down.

The voices of our generation are engrained in our brains for the rest of our lives and Mr Martin Tyler is one of those remarkable people we can thank for taking us back to a memorable moment in time.

Whether that be Ji's last minute goal against Manchester City back in January 2012 or John Arne Riise's thunderbastard free-kick against Manchester United in 2001, Tyler's legendary reactions will go down in history - for better or for worse.

Here are some of his greatest commentary moments. Sit back, relax and "AGUUUUUUUUERO"

Federico Macheda's goal against Aston Villa in April 2009:

QUOTE: "GREAT TURN BY MACHEDAAA"

The voice-crack of legend. Tyler went absolutely mental when the unknown debutant Federico Macheda netted a last gasp winner against Aston Villa to give Manchester United a vital three points to regain top spot in the Premier League. Astonishing!

Ji's goal against Manchester City in January 2012:

QUOTE: "FOR JIIIII. HE'S ROUND THE GOALKEEPER, HE'S DONE IT!"

With just 10 seconds of time remaining, Sunderland striker Ji took the ball around Joe Hart to secure a vital win for Sunderland. Martin O'Neil told his players to get forward and they did exactly that. Another Martin lost his shit:

John Arne Riise vs Manchester United in February 2001

QUOTE: "RIIIIIISE, GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME!"

Andy Gray played a big part in this legendary commentary moment but Tyler's words summed it up. Riise absolutely leathered the ball past a helpless Barthez. In the words of the man himself: "It's amazing the goal is still standing!"

Emile Heskey vs Germany in September 2001:

QUOTE: "IT'S EMILE HESKEYYYY. IT'S FIIIIVE!"

One of the most memorable moments in England history was completed when the genius of Emile Heskey netted against a distraught Oliver Kahn. The icing on the cake? Martin Tyler and Andy Gray's marvelous commentary.

Sergio Aguero vs QPR in May 2012:

QUOTE: "BALOTELLI.....AGUERRRROOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

How else could we end such a prolific list of Martin Tyler moments. Aguero's last minute winner against QPR gave Manchester City their first Premier League title and the Argentinian striker couldn't contain himself. Neither could Martin.

Some beautiful specimen has created a YouTube video dedicated to plenty more Martin Tyler moments. From Gerrard's goal against West Ham in the FA Cup Final, to Ryan Giggs' famous solo run against Arsenal in 1999.

Tyler really is a national treasure. Here is that wonderful compilation. Enjoy!
