Back in 2014, IGN gave Pro Evolution Soccer an impressive score of 8.4 out of 10, praising the game's 'high quality graphics'. They described the edition as 'a major improvement' to its predecessors.
Back in 2014. IGN said that PES 'has never felt so alive'. On top of that, Eurogamer handed the game a 9 out of 10 rating, and again, incredible graphics were mentioned.
Three years later, following the successful release of PES 2017, I've stumbled across a number of bizarre player faces from the PES release and questions need to be raised.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay may have been impressive, but when you inspect the finer details of PES 2014, a number of player faces don't quite match up to spec.
Not only was the Champions League and UEFA added to PES 2014, but the introduction of the Fox Engine, which was designed to enhance facial animations, went down well with many users,

But unfortunately for Konami, some player faces didn't exactly go to plan.
The likes of Kolo Toure, Kyle Walker, Rafael and Javier Saviola feature in this list, while Javier Mascherano, Alexis Sanchez, Bacary Sagna and Juan Roman Riquelme make an appearance.
We'll start with this beauty. Kolo Toure, is that you?
Next on the list we have Tottenham defender Kyle Walker, who's head looks like it's absolute to explode.
Compared to the others, former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna's player face isn't exactly the worst, but it certainly isn't the best either.
I think former Manchester United defender Rafael might need a haircut, PES...
Javier Mascherano probably wasn't too happy with his player face in 2014:
Then they gave Ricardo Carvalho long hair, despite the fact he was balding:
Marcelo had the same problem...
Javier Saviola didn't have much luck in the PES looks department when he was given braided hair...
Alexis Sanchez's time at Barcelona was certainly memorable, and so was his PES 2014 gameface. Is his face melting?
Last but not least, we have Juan Roman Riquelme, who looks like your average Football Manager regen:
We can confirm that the player faces on Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 surpass the above by some margin. although on a technical level, PES just cannot compete with FIFA in terms of graphics.

Back in July last year, Konami announced one of their biggest deals to date after they reached an agreement with Barcelona to push both brands globally in the coming years and recent pictures of their game-face graphics did impress plenty of gamers.
Game face images of David De Gea, Philippe Coutinho, Toni Kroos, Ivan Rakitic and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang surfaced online
Game face images of a number of Barcelona players left plenty to admited:
It's a huge improvement since the days of 2014, so well played PES.
Thank you Pro Evolution Soccer, for all the laughs. If you have't seen Joe Weller's hilarious take on the PES graphics, then i'd suggest you it a watch: Featured Image Credit:
