Mike Trout is set to sign the largest contract in sport by confirming a 12 year deal in Major League Baseball with LA Angels and earning $430 million in the process.
When fans say that footballers contracts are out of control and that they're being paid too much that's when no one is taking into account the crazy money that those in American sports can rack up and Mike Trout is about to blow everyone out of the water.
According to L'Equipe, last year, Lionel Messi was football's top earner, bringing in £7.3 million a month, or around £87.6 million a year, which is pretty decent money to be fair.
In the world of boxing Saul Canelo Alvarez recently signed a deal with American streaming service DAZN which will earn him £275 million across 11 fights in the next five years, equalling around £1 million a week for half a decade.

However Messi and Alvarez are set to be blown out of the water by baseball's Mike Trout. According to ESPN the LA Angels centre fielder is on the verge of a new 12 year deal.
The 27 year old's contract is likely to be his last in the sport and will earn him a ridiculous £520,000-a-week for over a decade that will equate to £325 million.
Philadelphia Phillies Bryce Harper signed a new deal earlier this month that made him the sport's highest earner with a £248.7 million deal for the next 13 years that also includes a no trade clause meaning he can't leave in that time.

However Harper is already going to be overtaken by Trout, who has won the American league's MVP award on two occasions and finished runner up on another four occasions.
Trout's deal was due to run out next year and he would have been extremely hot property, possibly even joining Harper, but that doesn't look to be leaving anytime soon.
The Millville Meteor has some of the best stats, especially for his age, and is considered a once in a generation player, his new deal will certainly reflect that feeling.

It's one hell of a contract for Trout and you have to wonder if it will ever be topped.
