Somehow not enough for a medal.

If you put your life on the line in order to win an Olympic medal and manage to stay alive then surely you deserve a medal? Apparently that's not the case with two gymnasts failing to finish inside the top three despite attempting, and not dying, the "Vault of Death."

Personally I can't help thinking calling it the "vault of death" is going a bit over the top. Granted I'd definitely do myself a mischief attempting this and most likely die but then I struggle with the three flight of steps to the office these days. (Shock horror a sports writer is a bit out of shape.)

Seriously though this twisty thing in the air, that's the extent of my gymnastics expertise, is pretty special but despite Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar landing the Produnova she could still only finish fourth.

41-year-old Uzbekistan Olympian Oksana Chusovitina also gave it a go but her ageing bones obviously didn't allow her to land it and she had to go with rolling out of the move at the end, but still didn't die.

Just to show how difficult the move is all conquering American Simone Biles was asked if she'd be attempting it before the competition and she said, "I'm not trying to die".Can't blame her either, it doesn't get you gold!
