Bowler Smashed In The Head By Cricket Ball In Truly Horrific Incident

During this evening's match between Nottingham and Birmingham Bears, play was suspended at Edgbaston after Luke Fletcher was hit on the head by the ball in a truly horrific incident that left players visibly shaken.

After coming on to bowl, Fletcher's first ball was hit straight back at him by batsman Hain and unfortunately hit the 28-year-old straight on the head, leaving Notts' bowler in a heap on the floor.

Fletcher was taken straight off for treatment, with players from both sides clearly shaken by what they had just seen.

Our best wishes go out to Luke. @bbctms believe he is currently sat up and talking after being taken off the field of play.

Thankfully, it seems Fletcher is okay after the incident.

Notts teammate Jake Ball posted a picture shortly after the incident occured, saying: Horrible injury to @fletcherluke but looks like he's doing well off to hospital'
