Tiger Woods Misses All Four Majors For The First Time In Ages

A big blow.

It was confirmed last night by the PGA Championships that Tiger Woods has pulled out of the fourth and final Major of the year. The news means that Woods misses out on all the Majors for the first time since his Masters debut in 1995.

The championships starts next Thursday at Baltusrol, New Jersey, where Jason Day is the reigning champion having won with a score of -20 at Whistling Straits last year and like the Masters, US Open and Open this year it will be missing Woods. It's the first time he's missed the final Major of the year since 2008.

Woods has been missing from golf all year with his last tournament coming last August. After that he underwent surgery on his back twice and his continued attempts to make a full recovery have since failed.

The 14 times Major winner's career has taken quite the downward spiral since the fallout from his infidelity scandal was followed by multiple injuries and he is now down to 628th in the world rankings, hasn't won a tournament since 2013 and won his most recent Major at the 2008 US Open.

There was some good news with the 40 year-old's agent confirming that the player was progressing however he won't be playing again this season, "Continuing to make progress, but simply not ready for PGA. Will not play in the 15/16 season and will continue to rehab and work hard to then assess when he starts play for the 16/17 season."

It's a sad end to what has been an incredible career and the chances of him breaking Jack Nicklaus' record 18 Majors seems slim.
