A couple of weeks ago, images of Olympic rower Alex Gregory's hands after 1,000 km of rowing went viral. The two-time Olympic Gold winner was part of a crew of nine rowers who embarked on an expedition from Norway to Iceland. It was brutal.

Just when we thought that nothing would compare to the pain that Gregory, a five-time world champion, suffered as a result of the unimaginable cold, wet and humid conditions, UFC featherweight Gilbert Melendez has posted a gruesome picture of his leg after defeat against Jeremy Stephens.

Melendez made his featherweight debut against the experienced Stephens, who postponed his wedding to fight the 35-year-old on Saturday night, but 'El Nino' struggled on his UFC bow and a number of brutal leg kicks left Melendez in a bad way.

The former Strikeforce champion somehow fought on for 15 minutes after a barrage of hard kicks.

But the damage was done and many believe the fight should have been stopped to protect Melendez's battered leg.

A day after Melendez's featherweightt debut defeat, his wife, Keri Melendez, gave fans an update on the 35-year-old's leg and the results are disturbing.

So here's what the UFC fighter's leg looked like, 24 hours after Stephens kicked him up and down the octagon:

Thankfully, Melendez didn't do any serious damage to his knee during the fight and according to his wife Keri, 'He's gonna heal up quick'

If you're wondering how his knee got into such a bad way, then just watch this footage of Stephens' hard leg kicks from Sunday night's bout:

We wish Melendez all the best in his recovery.
