Chris Gayle Takes One Of The Greatest Catches Ever In GT20 Canada

The West Indies limited overs legend took one of the most ridiculous catches we've ever seen.

Chris Gayle isn't always well known for being the greatest mover on the planet when it comes to running between the wickets but the West Indian proved he's certainly very agile when it comes to catching.

The great thing about the modern day phenomena of T20 cricket is that it never seems to stop. Pretty much all year round there's some big tournament of some sorts somewhere in the world.

Admittedly that's usually Australia's Big Bash, the IPL, the Natwest T20 Blast in England, the Pakistan Super League or the Caribbean Premier League, one of cricket's usual strongholds but not when it comes to the GT20.

The Global T20 League is based in Canada, not usually where you'd expect to find cricket, but because the way the world of T20 works it is where you'll find Chris Gayle.

There's few better exponents of the modern game than the West Indian opening batsman who can find himself with lots of runs off very few balls.

On Sunday his Vancouver Knights played West Indies B in the final of the tournament and Gayle took one of the most ridiculous catches ever, fumbling the ball before taking it on it's way to ground:

It's a good job that Gayle took such a ludicrous catch because the 38 year old could only manage two runs on the scoreboard before falling to a catch from Justin Greaves from Derval Green's bowling.

However it didn't make too much difference to the game. Gayle's Knights, who he captains, won the final by seven wickets.

The WIndies B side were only able to make 145 all out from 17.4 overs, with number eight Fabian Allen top scoring with 41.

It was a pretty simple chase for Knights. After losing three early wickets for 22 they were seen home by Rassie van der Dussen and Saad Bin Zafar, scoring 44 and 79 respectively.

After the match Gayle said, "To be a captain of such a great team and to come out winning is a great feeling. We got beaten by Windies B in Qualifier 1, but we showed great character to comeback today. Credit to the fans to come out and support the tournament. Hopefully, it can become a bigger and better tournament next year. To lose three wickets it put us in a bit of pressure, but Zafar and Dussen batted really well to help us cross the line. It was a brilliant tournament. Young Gayle is back (laughs), I did it with my eyes closed (about the catch)."
