Why Wladimir Klitschko Had A USB Stick At Final Press Conference

Why Wladimir Klitschko Had A USB Stick At Final Press Conference

Not the usual item at a boxing press conference.

You might have thought that all of the talk in the last press conference between Wladimir Klitschko and Anthony Joshua might have been about boxing, instead the Ukrainian made it all about a USB stick.

It's not that long ago that Dereck Chisora threw a table at Dillian Whyte during their final press conference and less time since David Haye and Tony Bellew brought a ton of security guards to theirs.

So it's not like heavyweight fights including an English boxer haven't been full of headlines and activity in recent months but Wladimir Klitschko took it another direction today.

Klitschko gets back in the ring for the first time in about 18 months when he takes on Anthony Joshua for the IBF, WBA (Super) and IBO world titles on Saturday.

The build up to the match has been unlike the previous two mentioned and has instead been really respectful between the two fighters. But Wladimir changed that slightly in the last press conference.

On Thursday afternoon the 41 year old spoke to the press armed with a USB stick that he revealed held the answer to the question on everyone's lips, who is going to win?

"I'm not Nostradamus but I recorded a video of my prediction of the fight. This stick is going to be in my robe which I'm going to wear on Saturday night.

"Do not ask me after the fight what is on the stick. The only person who is going to be able to open it up and watch it is the person who is going to buy the robe with the stick. The money will go to the Klitschko foundation."

Klitschko finds himself in the unusual position of being the underdog. Throughout his nine and a half year spell as world champion he was always favourite.

The challenger isn't bothered by that though, saying, "Is it a degradation that I'm the challenger and underdog after 27 years of boxing?

"I don't think so, I think it's a great thing. I feel young, hungry, humble and totally obsessed with the idea and goal of having my hands raised as the winner of my upcoming fight."

Joshua isn't too bothered about being favourite either though, replying, "I don't underestimate any opponent from when I first started boxing and through mistakes that I've learned. I just focus on me and a man coming to blows, and the best man will win.

"April 29 is just another stepping stone towards greatness."

Will the USB be right? We may never know!
