John Guidetti must still be wondering how the hell he missed in the last minute of the Europa League semi-final. Sergio Romero must have been having the complete opposite feelings to the striker and he's revealed exactly what was going through his mind at the time.

Jose Mourinho's master plan to focus attention on the Europa League and all but give up on top four in the Premier League was nearly undone by former Manchester City striker John Guidetti last night.

With United 2-1 up on aggregate Guidetti had as an easy chance as one could hope for in the last few seconds of a match where you need to score but after making bold claims before the first leg the Swede blew his chance:

The moment would have been especially embarrassing for the striker after the former Manchester City player said before the first leg that he hoped to "keep the city blue".

But one man forgotten in the whole incident was Sergio Romero who would have been mightily relieved to see the ball go nowhere near his net. Talking to Manchester Evening News the keeper revealed what was going through his head:

"If I'm honest, I thought Beauvue was going to shoot and that I would dive. But when I saw that he passed the ball, I didn't see that one of their players was there...and as the ball eventually went behind him, my soul returned to my body."

Romero has been United's Europa League keeper.

Romero was quickly across his goal to cover the potential shot from Beauvue which may have influenced the 29 year old to pass rather than shoot, although with hindsight he'd have been better off going it alone.

The Argentine keeper has spent all of his time at Old Trafford as second fiddle to David de Gea but has played in 11 Europa League games this season with the Spaniard appearing in just three of the games.

It's likely that Romero will play in the final.

It's unlikely he'll have many scarier moments than the last minute of Thursday night's game!
