The Olympics are now in full swing as the greatest show on Earth takes place in South America for the very first time.

The world's eyes will be fixed on Rio for the next three weeks, but the iconic Brazilian city has so much more to offer than just the events.

To help you get the full experience, we've put together a guide on the hottest things to do in Rio.

1. Hang gliding city view

What better way to take in the spectacular views of the golden sands of Copacabana beach and the sprawling metropolis of Rio than to hang glide from the top of a cliff edge?

Sail effortlessly through the air as you take in the sights and sounds of Rio from a perspective like no other, with many private tours offering you some of the best routes and a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

2. Beach volleyball lessons

Brazil are the beach volleyball world champions, and with the sport being the second most popular in the country, the Olympics is the perfect opportunity to have a go and immerse yourself in the game right from its homeland - Copacabana beach!

It may be a bit late to make a push for Gold, but a lesson and/or game of the popular past time is as good a way as any to work off a couple of those caipirinha's.

3. Visit Holland Heineken House

Holland Heineken House is the hottest ticket in town for a night out at the Olympic Games. Every day 4000 fans will flock to the House close to the legendary Ipanema Beach to absorb the world class facilities on offer, By day you can kick back by the pool or sun terraces and by night the place come alive to the tune of a host of top global DJ's.

There will be no better place in Rio to catch the Olympic action by day, and celebrate athlete successes into the night. Secure your place at the games original and first 'National House' by visiting here www.hollandHeinekenhouse.com.

4. Capoeira classes

Appreciate classic Brazilian culture and become a capoeirista! Capoeira is a two player game-fight set to music where the competitors seek to outdo one another using skill, strategy, dance and acrobatics.

The martial art has recently been accredited as a Brazilian heritage, and you'd be mad not to have a go.

5. Cable car ride down Sugarloaf Mountain

Witness the amazing views of the Sugarloaf Mountain and the panoramic vista of Rio, as you drift across the breathtaking landscape in a tranquil cable car, surrounded by the city in all its glory.
