This rivalry is set to continue.

Tennis' best rivalry is no longer Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray vs Novak Djokovic, Nick Kyrgios vs referees or even Ille Nastase vs all women but in fact Maria Sharapova vs Eugenie Bouchard and the Russian has taken the latest shot.

Sharapova has been out of action in the tennis world for about a year because of a drugs ban, she recently returned in time for the clay court season and a bash at qualifying for the French Open.

The former Wimbledon champion's return to the tennis has split the game but world number 59 Eugenie Bouchard, a former top 10 player, has been particularly outspoken about her negative feelings towards Sharapova's return.

When the Russian came back at Stuttgart the Canadian said, "She's a cheater and I don't think a cheater in any sport should be allowed to play that sport again. It's so unfair to all the other players who do it the right way and are true."

Bouchard was clearly very excited when she beat her rival in Madrid on Monday and the pair didn't shake hands but just clasped them:

And she continued to stick the boot in after her victory saying, "I was inspired because I had a lot of players coming up to me privately, wishing me good luck...It showed me that most people have my opinion and they were just maybe scared to speak out."

However that's not the end of things, as you'd well imagine it wouldn't be, with Sharapova's recent Twitter activity used to take a sly dig at the younger player.

The former world number one has an autobiography coming out soon:

And Sharapova's recent likes on the social media site showed that she was a fan of a mocked up parody for 'Bouchard's book':

That's definitely a dig! PA Images

Sharapova's many fans have backed her all the way with the drugs ban but it's difficult to see why.

We're definitely team Bouchard! (That's going to make me unpopular)
