Spain didn't enjoy the best World Cup this summer, especially when they sacked former manager Julen Lopetegui before the start of the tournament. It looks like Luis Enrique is cracking down his ruthless whip and plans to restore the former champions to their glory days.

The Daily Star reports that the Spain boss is putting in place some strict rules for the squad.

It includes a ban on mobile phone use at the dining table. In fact, it looks like Enrique's all about team unity, with the players needing to sit and eat their meals together.

Enrique also seems to be a man of discipline, saying that he will fine players who turn up late for dinner. Actually, he is going full-on dad mode, as he plans to send them to bed early, ban different unhealthy foods and bring more fruit and veg into their diets.

The former Barcelona coach is even taking aim at the players' late-night sessions of playing cards, Ludo and PlayStation. Apparently, the players were doing it quite a bit during the World Cup in the summer (he never said anything about Xbox One or Nintendo Switch, though).

You might think he's being a bit brutal, but some of the players have welcomed the change. One of them is Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso.

"Things are working well [at Chelsea] and with Luis Enrique I see similar things," he said.

"It is modern football that is played lately; have the ball, control the game and be well placed when the time comes when the ball is lost.

"Both when you attack and when you defend, you must do everything according to the possession. The placement is fundamental.

Press Association

"That is why the training sessions are similar to those of Spain; possession, exit of the ball. These are similar concepts."

Spain are set to face England tomorrow in their opening match of the UEFA Nations League.

It looks like the Friday Fortnite session might have to be cancelled for the Spanish boys.

Will Luis Enrique restore Spain back to their former glory?
