Make it happen, EA...

Heung-Min Son has beaten Cristiano Ronaldo in a FIFPlay poll for the next cover star of FIFA 2020.

In November, we told you how Spurs forward Heung-Min Son was leading the way with 48 per cent of the votes. We also followed that up in February with an update of how close the race between the two were in the poll.

A few months on and Son has been crowned the winner ahead of Ronaldo. The Spurs star finished with 17 per cent of the vote and 203,974 votes in his favour, while the Juventus ace also hit 17 per cent of the vote but fell short at 202,691.

In third place is Lionel Messi with 192,390 votes, with his former Barcelona teammate Neymar, who has graced the Champions Edition this year, is in fourth after accruing 180,740 votes.

Then it's Liverpool star Mo Salah in fifth with nearly 115,000 votes, Bayern's Thomas Muller closing in on 100,000 votes and surprisingly, West Ham striker Javier Hernandez with over 15,000 votes - which is more than Kylian Mbappe, Luis Suarez, Eden Hazard, Antoine Griezmann and many more household names.

Even though it's early days because there's a long, long way to go until voting - and we must stress it's entirely up to EA as to who they want to be the face of their game - it's great to see so much support for Son.

Ronaldo dropped from the latest box art as well as various other branding. Instead, Neymar is joined by Ronaldo's Juventus teammate Paulo Dybala and Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne.

The same trio have replaced Ronaldo on the in-game menu but EA say it's just part of their reband to go along with the return of the Champions League knockout stages.

"With the UEFA Champions League coming to EA Sports FIFA 19 this year, we have a unique opportunity to offer a range of new content to players that reflects the real-world excitement of football," an EA spokesperson told EuroGamer.

"We often celebrate different talent across our sports games, and with the UEFA Champions League knockout stages underway we are featuring some of the biggest stars in football and bringing new players a range of content to get excited about."

There has of course been the rape allegation against Ronaldo, along with the five-time Ballon d'Or accepting a hefty £16.6 million fine for tax evasion in January.

But EA have not commented on either matter and instead say his removal is merely down to them going in a different direction.

Who should be on the FIFA 20 front cover?
