It's the moment that Liverpool fans were dreading but had started to become almost inevitable. Philippe Coutinho has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Liverpool according to Sky Sports.
The midfielder has been courted by Barcelona pretty much all summer and the noise coming from his own camp has hardly dampened the feeling that he wanted to make the move to the Camp Nou.
However Liverpool have been stubborn in their approach to not wanting to sell him and have rejected two bids for the player. This morning they put out a statement saying the player would not be leaving this summer.
That seems to have pushed the player into taking action.
Liverpool's strong statement this morning said, "We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.
"The club's definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes."
In hindsight it has felt for sometime that the former Inter midfielder had wanted the move to the Camp Nou but had equally not wanted to upset Liverpool fans or give up any bonus he'd be in line for if the club had chosen to sell him.

Last week there were reports that the player had told sources in Brazil he wanted to leave for Barcelona as long as everything could be done amicably but if the reports of his transfer request are true then the club's stance may have forced his hand.
Of course as is the way with this ever changing transfer there are contradictory reports that the 25 year-old hasn't handed in a transfer request.
At this point it's nigh on impossible to be able to keep up and be sure what's going on.
Whatever happens you feel this one could run right up until transfer deadline day!
