Dana White confirms the three issues that are stopping Conor McGregor from making UFC return

Dana White provided another update on Conor McGregor following UFC 298.

Dana White has confirmed the three issues that are stopping Conor McGregor from making his UFC return.

White provided an update on McGregor following the blockbuster UFC 298 in Anaheim, California, on Saturday.

He hasn't fought since his TKO (doctor stoppage) defeat to Dustin Poirier back in July 2021.

McGregor broke his ankle towards the end of the first round, preventing him from continuing against Poirier.

But the 35-year-old has recovered from the injury sustained at UFC 264 as he's shared footage of his sparring ahead of his highly-anticipated comeback.

However, the 'Notorious' still hasn't got a fight date for his UFC return, with a showdown against Michael Chandler on the cards.

According to White, there are three main reasons as to why he hasn't returned to the famed Octagon yet.

Speaking during his UFC 298 post-fight press conference, the UFC CEO said his injury, money and film obligations is holding McGregor back.

"The first problem is that he broke that shin bone. He's been recovering from that," he explained.

"The other problem is he's f**king rich. Conor McGregor does not need money."

White also revealed that the former UFC double champion has media obligations for movie Road House, which he stars in alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

White added: "I don't know [If McGregor will fight for the UFC again]. Conor McGregor has a lot of money. We're thrilled when he comes and fights, but money complicates a lot of things. He does want to fight this year, but we will see what happens."

The 54-year-old then called McGregor 'one of the best business partners' the UFC have ever had.

He continued: "Conor McGregor has probably been one of the best business partners we've ever had.

"For a guy that was on the dole, Conor McGregor is a very good businessman, he's always been a great partner to us. There's never any haggling for money, he's never done anything remotely close to that... it's the exact opposite."
