Conor McGregor predicts exactly how Alexander Volkanovski vs Ilia Topuria will go down at UFC 298

Conor McGregor predicts exactly how Alexander Volkanovski vs Ilia Topuria will go down at UFC 298

Conor McGregor has made his prediction for UFC 298.

Conor McGregor has predicted exactly how Alexander Volkanovksi vs. Ilia Topuria will play out at UFC 298 in a fascinating assessment.

Volkanovski defends his UFC featherweight title against Topuria in the main-event of tonight's stacked UFC 298 card from Anaheim, California.

Topuria, who competes in his first UFC championship bout of his career, is supremely confident, having copied McGregor's iconic moment against Jose Aldo during the UFC 298 pre-fight press conference.

But the 27-year-old surprised fight fans with what he said during his face-off with the Australian star, who returns to the Octagon for the first time since his crushing defeat to Islam Makhachev last October.

Former UFC featherweight king McGregor believes Volkanovski will get hurt by Topuria but backs him to secure a knockout to defend his 145lbs strap.

Elsewhere on the card, Ian Garry takes on Geoff Neal, with the 35-year-old backing his fellow Irishman to 'run through' the veteran American.

And the 'Notorious' thinks the big middleweight clash between Paulo Costa and Robert Whittaker and the bantamweight bout between Merab Dvalishvili and Henry Cejudo will go the distance.

On X, he wrote: "Awesome night of @ufc fights tonight! Garry is going to run thru Geoff in the first round. Volk will get hurt early but come back and KO illia. Over in 2 rounds. Costa and Whittaker will have a good 3 round exchange as will Merab and Henry.

"Have a good evening everyone and remember, Proper Whiskey, Forged Irish Stout, and McGregor rule the roost, baby!"

McGregor, meanwhile, still hasn't got a UFC date despite recovering from his injury sustained in his TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier back in July 2021.

He's set to fight Michael Chandler, having competed against him on The Ultimate Fighter.

McGregor revealed a date of June 29 for his showdown against Chandler, but nothing has been confirmed by the UFC.
