The Least Offensive Food Is Banned From Stamford Bridge

The Least Offensive Food Is Banned From Stamford Bridge

Well this seems ridiculous.

Food at football grounds can be far too expensive, especially if you're going every week it really adds up. So from time to time one might want to sneak some food in but you've got to be careful what you take at Stamford Bridge.

At some point or other in life there's a good chance you've tried to get in somewhere whilst carrying illegal contraband, not like actually illegal, although maybe for some of you, but like a can of coke into a football ground.

How badass does it feel to take sweets into the cinema that you've brought from home! Beating the system. Image: PA Images.

Last week after work I tried to get into a bar whilst still having my work stuff with me which included a bottle of squash I hadn't finished, I really lead the rock and roll lifestyle. The bouncer wouldn't let me in with the bottle, fair enough, but my colleagues found this hilarious as I'm the only non drinker.

So whilst squash could have literally been anything so I totally understood why it wasn't allowed in there must be some football fans utterly baffled by the ban on celery in Stamford Bridge.

It's all because of a classic but extremely weird chant from Chelsea fans about tickling a girls bum with the vegetable.

When the song made a comeback to the terraces in around 2007 fans starting bringing sticks of the veg to the ground on matchdays and would often fling them on the pitch, usually towards opposition players about to take a throw in.

The club's website reads "The throwing of anything at a football match, including celery, is a criminal offence for which you can be arrested and end up with a criminal record.

"In future, if anyone is found attempting to bring celery into Stamford Bridge they could be refused entry and anyone caught throwing celery will face a ban."

Not that any normal person would be bringing celery to a match.

What's the most random food you've seen eaten at football?
