The Bizarre Reason Behind Sean Dyche's Gravelly Voice

You can't say you haven't wanted to know...

Sean Dyche's gravelly tones are instantly recognisable. You hear the 'Ginger Mourinho' as soon as he opens his mouth such is his grating and distinct voice.

I'm not sure about you but for years I've wondered whether or not there was a reason as to why Dyche's voice sounds the way it does.

Was the Burnley boss born with it? Did a certain event or incident change his voice, as it did with Tyson Fury after he was punched in the throat?

Well, one of Dyche's former teammates at Bristol City reckons it's because he used to eat earthworms on the regular back in the day.

Classic Sunday League quotes we can all relate to:

Soren Andersen says Dyche would eat worms before every training session and do his best impression of former WWE superstar 'The Boogeyman' - whose gimmick was based on stuffing live worms into his mouth.

"He had exactly the same voice," Anderson said on the Danish podcast Fodboldministeriet, via The Mirror.

"Maybe the voice comes from eating rainworms (what earthworms are known a, because every time we trained, he used to eat rainworms.

"Yes, he did. It was horrible, I've never experienced anything like it. It was like: 'whoops, there's a rainworm' and then he ate it.

"It was a bit disgusting and very strange. He was a good player, and I enjoyed being around him, but the thing with the worms was really strange.

"There was always these worms around. And everybody always commented on it as being disgusting and complained a bit.

"So I think maybe it was as a kind of a provocation, and to show us that it wasn't something, we should focus on or care about, he just ate one or two."

A quite incredible revelation from Anderson - and one that has prompted some hilarious reactions on social media:
