With Chelsea going bananas for red cards yesterday and Jonjo Shelvey just wrecklessly getting himself dimissed during Newcastle's clash with Tottenham, this afternoon, it feels like all we've talked about over the past 24 hours is ill disciplined footballers.
Which brings us to former AC Milan and Real Madrid star Kaka.
The Ballon d'Or winner, now plying his trade in Major League Soccer with Orlando City, received his marching orders following a truly bizarre incident during the Florida club's clash with New York Red Bulls.
The incident, originally not seen by the match officials, was picked up by the divisive Video Assistant Referee system.
The Brazilian playmaker was not involved in the initial incident, which saw a bout of handbags break out, but the former AC Milan star did step in to diffuse the situation, alongside former Orlando teammate Aurelien Collin, now playing for the Red Bulls.
The pair were seen joking and laughing together as players from both teams became embroiled in a scuffle near the touchline. Then, Kaka playfully rubbed Collin's face several times and his affection was mistaken for violence and he was promptly (and hilariously) sent for an early bath.
Collin even seems a little bemused by the decision and seemingly attempts to talk the referee round to reverse his decision, but to no avail.
The Red Bulls midfielder even took to social media to plead Kaka's case.
Strangest dismissal of the season? This will certainly take some beating.
