Zinedine Zidane's Return To Real Madrid Isn't Good For Gareth Bale

The Real Madrid winger was not a regular starter under Zidane and the Frenchman has returned after 10 months out of the job.

Zinedine Zidane's return from footballing wilderness to Real Madrid just 10 months after he left the role in the first place will be celebrated by most around the club, but not by Gareth Bale.

Three Champions Leagues, two FIFA Club World Cups and a La Liga title in just two and a half years at the helm, it's no surprise that Real Madrid were happy to welcome back Zinedine Zidane yesterday, sacking Santiago Solari just four months into his two year deal.

Under Zidane midfielder Isco had become an integral member of the team and you expect that he'd have been waiting with a big hug for his new old manager at the training ground on Tuesday morning.

Opposite to him though would have been Gareth Bale. The Welshman came on in last season's Champions League final to win the game but revealed he was fed up of his lack of game time, saying, "I need to be playing week in, week out, and that's not happened this season...I have to sit down with my agent in the summer and discuss it."

Of course it was Cristiano Ronaldo who left and Bale stayed but the re-introduction of Zidane asks questions of the former Spurs winger's future with Guillem Balague explaining on BBC Sport how bad their relationship is, saying:

"The Welshman and Zidane do not get on. When Bale needed an arm on his shoulder and someone telling him he was not just good, but one of the best in the world, Zidane gave him silence.

"The relationship broke down by the time the 2017-18 season finished, hence Bale telling the world he was considering his future at the end of last season's Champions League final.

"Zidane does not want to work with Bale but it will not be easy to get rid of him About to be 30, who will pay more than 75m euros for him and the 12m euros net he is earning at the moment?."

Manchester United have been linked with Bale quite a few times since he signed for Real from Spurs and they even bid for him when the Welshman was on the verge of moving to La Liga.

In the past Ed Woodward has seemed hell bent on adding star power to the side but the signing of Alexis Sanchez last year might put him off bidding big for players aged 30 or over in future.

Where will Bale end up?
