Tiemoue Bakayoko Set For Chelsea Exit In Loan Deal

The Chelsea midfielder isn't wanted by Maurizio Sarri after the signing of Jorginho and he looks set to move abroad at least for a season.

One way to find out how well a transfer has gone is whether or not you're trying to get rid of the player a year after they've joined. So it's fair to say Tiemoue Bakayoko's move to Chelsea hasn't worked.

Two seasons ago Monaco surprised the football world by winning Ligue 1 ahead of PSG. They also bettered their richer rivals, and many other elite European clubs, by reaching the Champions League semi finals.

The one problem with their incredible success, and brilliant way they played football to achieve it, was it all attracted the attentions of other clubs to their best players from the season.

Kylian Mbappe moved to PSG on loan before a sale this summer, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva both took a trip to Manchester City and Tiemoue Bakayoko transferred to Antonio Conte's Chelsea.

The moves worked out for the players in the main. Mbappe won Ligue 1 again, this time with PSG, whilst Silva and Medny won the Premier League, although the latter was injured for most of the season.

For Bakayoko at Stamford Bridge things never really got going, not helped by the fact Nemanja Matic was sold against Conte's wishes, and now he's set to leave west London.

According to Goal the 23 year old is set to move to AC Milan on loan for the season with the deal to include a €35 million option to buy the midfielder at the end of the season.

Bakayoko reportedly wanted to stay and fight for his place initially but the additions of Jorginho, following Sarri from Napoli, and Mateo Kovacic, joining on loan as part of Thibaut Courtois' move, means he's unlikely to get much football.

It is quite the fall from grace for the Frenchman having cost the Blues £40 million last summer but it will benefit his career if the new manager has no interest in playing him.

Milan have had an interesting summer having already signed Mattia Caldara and Gonzalo Higuain, as part of the move that saw Leonardo Bonucci head back to Juventus, as well as Nikola Kalinic, Pepe Reina and Alen Halilovic.

Can Bakayoko be a success in Italy?
