There's One Player's Shirt Sales Benefitting From Cristiano Ronaldo's Sale

There's One Player's Shirt Sales Benefitting From Cristiano Ronaldo's Sale

The Champions League winners are now without their most popular and famous player after he was sold to Juventus.

Cristiano Ronaldo's sale to Juventus means that they're without their biggest and shiniest Galactico. But who could step into his shoes? One man is benefitting from more t-shirt sales than the rest of the players.

There aren't many examples of Real Madrid selling their best and most important player, in fact I'm not sure I can think of any in the last 20 years but that's exactly what's happened with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Florentino Perez has built a reputation of signing Galacticos but he doesn't usually sell them. So what we can assume is that at some point this summer at least one big name player will be joining to replace Ronaldo, possibly Eden Hazard.

Right now though there's a gap in the marked for one of the current Real players to be the top dog. For fans of Attitude era WWF, as it was then, think Rikishi getting rid of Stone Cold Steve Austin 'for the Rock.'

Rikishi's claim was that with Stone Cold out of the picture it was the Rock who benefited most in becoming the face of the company, winning titles and selling more merch than anyone else.

With Perez having allowed Ronaldo to move to Juventus there's a new face that runs the place and according to AS it's Luka Modric with the Croatian selling more shirts than anyone else see Ronaldo left.

Modric has been a key part of Real's three Champions League wins in a row and the fact he was also integral to Croatia reaching the final of the World Cup this month means he's currently one of the favourites to win the Ballon d'Or.

On the opposite side of the coin to the former Spurs midfielder is Karim Benzema. Apparently the club shop told AS that the Frenchman has sold fewer shirts than anyone else since Ronaldo left.

The French forward and Ronaldo had a good pairing but with the Portuguese forward now in Italy there's no guarantee that the former Lyon man will stay at the Bernabeu.

Of bigger concern for Los Blancos right now is working out how to replace all the goals they've seen go out of the team, that won't be so easy.
