Prices of footballers is forever on the rise and working out who would be worth the most is a fool's errand for most of us but the CIES Football Observatory have done exactly that.
Ever since Neymar moved to PSG from Barcelona transfer prices have gone up to a level that we previously couldn't have imagined and it would take a hell of a lot of money to pry the best players in the world away from their clubs.
In the summer Cristiano Ronaldo cost Juventus around £89 million. Only five players have ever cost more in a transfer, and all of those happened in the last two years.
It's crazy that even at 33 Ronaldo cost so much but his goal scoring start in Italy proves that age really is no barrier to the five time Ballon d'Or winner who could easily go on till he's 40.

Real Madrid didn't replace their lead scorer of all time in the summer but may still do next summer, especially if their poor season continues.
Neymar is constantly being linked with a move to the Bernabeu, and would fit the Galactico model, but Real could find even costlier replacements according to CIES Football Observatory, who have calculated the most expensive players in the world with the Brazilian coming in at number three.
The cost is partially calculated based on how long a player has left on his deal at his current club as well as the age of the player, which helps Trent Alexander-Arnold top the charts of full backs.

Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane have also both been linked with potential moves to the Bernabeu whilst it's a surprise that fellow rumoured signing Eden Hazard doesn't make the list.
If Mbappe did move for how much it's estimated he's worth then it wouldn't break Neymar's record but there's every chance he would actually cost more.
Who do you expect the Champions League winners to spend big on?
