Christian Eriksen dropped the bombshell on Wednesday that he wants to leave Spurs for a new challenge but the Premier League club reportedly want £130 million for the midfielder.

Spurs big performers just didn't quite get going last Saturday in the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Harry Kane's comeback from injury took many of the column inches by Son Heung-min, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen all failed to live up to what we've come to expect from them in Spurs shirts.

The blow of losing the final isn't the only thing to have hit the club this week though with Eriksen revealing to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet on Wednesday that he wants to leave the club.

Speaking to the press in his home country the former Ajax man said, "I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new.

"I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Tottenham and it would not be something negative to stay. But I have also said that I would like to try something new."

Real Madrid have long been linked with a move for the Dane but, according to the Mirror, they'll have to splash out £130 million after Daniel Levy set the price for the 27 year old.

It's expected that Madrid is the midfielders prefered destination and with such a huge price tag there aren't too many teams who will be able to afford him.

Los Blancos will be spending big this summer and it's likely they'll add Chelsea's Eden Hazard to their squad in the near future.

They've been strongly linked with a move for either Eriksen or fellow Premier League midfielder Paul Pogba but the Spurs' players revelation that he wants to leave might make him favourite.

Eriksen moved to Spurs from Ajax in 2013 for just £11 million, after Gareth Bale had left the club for Real, and has gone on to play 276 games for the club.

This season the number 23 scored 10 goals for the club and put on 16 assists as the team finished fourth in the Premier League and made it to the final of the Champions League for the first time.
