Real Madrid remain hellbent on snapping up AS Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe, and the club are prepared to offload talent in order to fund a mega offer.

The 18-year-old is subject to intense transfer speculation following his heroics last season, and is attracting plenty of interest from the likes Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

And reports suggest that the Spanish champions could allow Mateo Kovacic to leave the club in order to pave the way for a world record transfer.

Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez have failed to seek a move away from the Bernabeu, so Real could look elsewhere to balance the books while creating more funds for Mbappe.

According to the London Evening Standard, Real Madrid are considering selling the Croatian midfielder with the player being offered to clubs around Europe.

Which includes Spurs. The report continues to add that Mauricio Pochettino has been made aware of his availability yet their strict wage policy could prevent a potential offer from being tabled.

Barcelona have also expressed an interest in Kovacic though a sale to their arch rivals is very unlikely.

The 23-year-old rose to prominence with Inter Milan before securing his switch to Real Madrid in 2012. After producing heroics in Italy's Serie A, Kovacic has failed to replicate his impressive form in the La Liga.

He's struggled to break into Zinedine Zidane's side. Just 19 league starts last season has put his Real Madrid career in doubt. Though he's tipped to become the heir to Luka Modric's thrown, according to the man himself.

"I have always trusted him, and in the future he will be a very important player for Madrid," Modric said of his international compatriot.

Despite being heralded by arguably the best midfielder in the world, could Kovacic leave the Spanish capital this summer?
