Liverpool's goalkeeping situation is rather dominating pre season right now. Out of all the stories though nothing has come close to intriguing us as much as the latest news linking Simon Mignolet with Barcelona.
The Champions League final proved something that wasn't exactly a secret in the first place, Loris Karius isn't a great goalkeeper. The fact that he'd long dispossessed Simon Mignolet for the number one spot at Anfield rather said as much about the Belgian too.
As far back as last summer there was talks Klopp could sign a new keeper and in January they were heavily linked with a move for Roma goalie Alisson. It took several months and the Champions League final disaster for the Premier League side to break a world transfer record for the Brazilian.
That leaves Liverpool goalkeepers with a choice. Stick around and watch what a good goalkeeper looks like, realise you're not very good and call it a day or find somewhere else to play. (Yes I'm being overly harsh but that's the mood I'm in, go with it.)

Danny Ward decided to move on to Leicester City and Karius is likely to be Alisson's back up. So what of Mignolet? Well, according to Marca, he is a genuine target to be Barcelona's number two.
In a summer of goalkeepers moving this would definitely be our favourite transfer.
Essentially it comes down to the fact that current Barcelona number two Jasper Cillessen's wants to leave because he's fed up of sitting in the shadow number one Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, who is going nowhere.

Barca are resigned to losing him, presumably so he can become a number one elsewhere, meaning they need a new backup and Mignolet is on their list of potential replacements.
Also on that list is Koen Casteels from Wolfsburg, Yann Sommer from Borussia Mönchengladbach, Geronimo Rulli from Real Sociedad and Marko Dmitrovic from Eibar.
Klopp would be willing to see Mignolet leave as Liverpool look to recoup money from their expensive summer outlay so far, because it's not all from the Philippe Coutinho money.

The goalkeeper situation throughout Europe is pretty intriguing right now. Thibaut Courtois looks likely to move to Real Madrid meaning Chelsea will need a replacement. Keylor Navas could go elsewhere and of course Roma need to replace Alisson.
Seriously though, Mignolet to Barca? Wake me up when this weird dream is over.
