Anthony Martial was likely to leave Old Trafford with Jose Mourinho still in charge but now the Frenchman is set to sign a new deal at Manchester United having told his agent to sign him up.

If a week is a long time in football then five of them is basically another lifetime and that's clearly how it feels at Manchester United with fortunes changed so much in that time it's like a different club.

It's not just the results or the performances that have been so drastically altered in the past five weeks at Old Trafford but the mystical 'mood around the club.'

You don't have to be a genius to figure out what's changed, heck you only have to have a passing interest in football, the news or life to know that the Premier League side sacked Jose Mourinho and replaced him with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Players like Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford, previously enjoying stints sat on the bench at Old Trafford, are suddenly looking like world beaters.

One other player who is certainly enjoying life more now that the 'Special One' has gone is Anthony Martial. The forward had clearly had enough of life under Mourinho and wouldn't sign a new contract.

With just 18 months left on his deal United faced losing him for nothing next summer but now, according to the Mirror, he has told agent Philippe Lamboley to 'strike a deal.'

Mourinho was ready to sell Martial last summer, in order to help fund a move for another winger, but Ed Woodward refused the sale, causing issues between the pair.

The former Monaco forward's contract was due to run out this summer but the club then activated a one year automatic extension but he continued to refuse a new deal.

The new deal is expected to be worth around £150,000 a week and will end speculation of the 23 year old leaving the club.

Speaking recently about life under Solskjaer the Frenchman said, "I'm happy, because I'm playing more now this season than I was previously. So hopefully that can continue. I want to continue scoring goals and obviously that will have the effect of helping the team, so as long as I'm playing I am very happy."

A week is a long time in football, for Anthony Martial the last five must have felt like a whole new start to life.
