Antoine Griezmann's tweet yesterday looked like it put an end to the summer's most laborious transfer saga before it could even get going but one Manchester United legend doesn't think it'll be so easy.

Pretty much everyone was expecting a long drawn out process to the possibility of Antoine Griezmann joining Manchester United this summer.

After all there'd already been thousands of different angles on the rumour even before the season was over so why would it change now.

Yesterday's early news that Atletico Madrid had their transfer ban upheld seemed to make it even easier for United to get their hands on the French forward.

However suddenly news started circulating that they no longer wanted Griezmann and then he tweeted to suggest he was staying put.

But just when you thought it was all over Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has chimed in to suggest that this one isn't over just yet.

Talking to Sky Sports News the Welshman said, "I'm not so sure if we've heard the end of that. I think it'll be ebb and flow during the summer, there'll be lots of rumours."

The reason that the Red Devils are thought to have cooled interest in Griezmann is reportedly because Jose Mourinho has decided he needs a more traditional 'number 9.'

That means that the former Real Madrid boss has moved away from Griezmann with Andrea Belotti, Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata believed to be among his targets.

Giggs agreed that it's goals United need more than anything adding, "United need goals. All the teams I played in there were goals from everywhere.

"Sometimes you'd rely on a centre-forward for a season, but more often than not you had midfielders, even defenders, wingers and obviously the forwards all contributing."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was by far United's top scorer last season but his injury could see him sidelined till December and his future at the club looks far from certain.

Marcus Rashford once again impressed at the back end of the season in the centre forward's position but Mourinho is certain to add a striker to his squad.

Is Giggs right or will Jose go for someone else?
