Once upon-a-time Real Madrid seemed to rule the transfer window as Galactico after Galactico was the biggest transfer of any given window. Now they've fallen behind some of the nouveau riche but the Spanish champions want to change that this summer.
Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Zinedine Zidane and Figo all moved to Real Madrid for world record transfer fees. The latter two in the first Galactico era, that also included David Beckham, and the other three in the modern Galactico era.
It was always the case that Real could have who they wanted, when they wanted them because they were the biggest club in the world with the most money. Their history means they can still flex that muscle but it's not quite the same.
Manchester United and PSG have both broken the transfer record in the last 18 months whilst Barcelona have slipped into second and third on the most expensive of all time list.

However Real are set to blow everyone out of the water once again in the summer. According to Spanish newspaper Marca the Champions League champs most desired player is Neymar and he could cost a whopping £357 million.
Being 16 points behind bitter rivals Barcelona in La Liga already this season, and facing PSG in the Champions League first knockout stage next month, it's no surprise that they are being linked with such a huge money signing.
The report says that the club, most likely fuelled by president Florentino Perez, want the Galactico times back at the Bernabeu with James Rodriguez's 2014 move considered the last transfer of that type.

Neymar, it is reckoned, would fancy the move to the Spanish capital, despite leaving their fierce Catalan rivals only in the summer.
The 25 year old cost his current club £198 million in the summer after they activated his release clause from Spain but an offer of £357 million would be a huge profit for them after one year.
Kylian Mbappe makes his arrival permanent in the summer and there'd be plenty of funds available in the French capital to replace Neymar.

Harry Kane, Eden Hazard and Timo Werner are also named as potential Galacticos but they don't get much more Galactico than Neymar, something that would make Barca blood boil!
