Real Madrid Set For Big Summer Shake Up

Real Madrid Set For Big Summer Shake Up

Florentino Perez is ready to get rid of a chunk of the Real Madrid squad as he believes they've come to the end of their cycle.

Real Madrid might have won the Champions League for the last three years but their club president is ready to tear up the squad and start again as he plans selling some big names in the summer.

It was always going to be interesting to see how Real Madrid coped with losing Zinedine Zidane in the summer. Julen Lopetegui joined in controversial circumstances but didn't last long after a poor start to the season.

Lopetegui lost Cristiano Ronaldo before the season began and Los Blancos never really replaced him in the transfer window, only signing Mariano Diaz up front to replace him.

When Lopetegui was sacked he was replaced by Santiago Solari with the former Real midfielder surprisingly being given a contract until summer 2020.

Under Florentino Perez it seems highly unlikely that Solari will see out that contract and with Jose Mourinho now jobless the president is being linked with bringing the former Real boss back to the Bernabeu.

Those links have been refuted elsewhere but once again Spanish newspaper SPORT report that the move is a possibility.

On top of that SPORT reckon that they'll be a clear out in the Spanish capital in the summer with Luka Modric, Isco, Marco Asensio and Gareth Bale amongst those who could leave.

The Spanish paper points out that even Sergio Ramos and Marcelo's futures aren't guaranteed as both men fell out with Mourinho last time he was in charge, so if he were appointed they could be out.

At 33 it's likely that Real could decide to cash out on Modric, who will only have one year left on his deal, and the Croatian was wanted by Inter in the summer but a deal couldn't be made.

Isco has barely played this season and after forcing himself into Zidane's plans is back out of the first XI for Solari.

Perez is also likely to oversee plenty of talent coming into the club in the summer with a big signing likely to happen to replace Ronaldo.

Eden Hazard, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar have all repeatedly been linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

Will Mourinho be in charge in the summer?
