Real Madrid Officials Text Jose Mourinho After Manchester United Sacking

Jose Mourinho can enjoy a nice Christmas off with a big 'bonus' for not doing his job well enough to keep it and then he can think about what next. He's already had messages from Real Madrid's higher ups.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes. It feels certain that at some point, despite being written off by pretty much everyone, Jose Mourinho will inevitably get another big job in football.

We don't know where yet but despite the poor return of football of any style at Manchester United, and the countless wars with players, the 'Special One' will be back at some point.

It's pretty much in keeping with Mourinho's recent run of managerial failures, only to rock up at the next big club a few months later and have some success.

Now that he's left Manchester United, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking the reigns at Old Trafford, the question is what next for Jose?

There has been links with a return to Real Madrid, with El Pais saying Florentino Perez wants him, but new reports say that isn't the case.

According to Marca officials at Real have been in touch with Mourinho since his sacking but it was only to send their condolences of losing his job, rather than anything more tempting.

The original thoughts were that Perez could bring in the two time Champions League winner to replace Santiago Solari.

Solari, a former midfielder at the Bernabeu, was brought in to replace Julen Lopetegui earlier this season and given a contract until 2021 but that might have just been to give him authority.

Despite Mourinho's friendship with Perez and with Jose Angel Sanchez directors believe the 'era' of him at the club is done and the bad feeling he left the club with in 2013 is the reason.

Real don't see him as a long or short term option for the job, although that doesn't mean that Solari is safe in his job when it comes to the end of the season.

It'll be interesting to see where Mourinho ends up next but for now he can have a nice chilled Christmas off with a big cheque of compensation to live off.
