Real Madrid Have Made A First Approach For Eden Hazard

The Chelsea forward hasn't been shy over talking about wanting to play for Real Madrid and be managed by Zinedine Zidane.

Zinedine Zidane surprised the world of football on Monday by making a return to Real Madrid just 10 months after leaving but even before that the Spanish club were making enquiries over a different signing, Eden Hazard.

Seeing Real Madrid sack Santiago Solari before the end of the season came as a shock to pretty much no one. The Spaniard might have signed a contract to 2021 back in October but no one expected him to see it out.

Once Real lost three times at home in a week to see them pretty much get knocked out of three competitions, with two losses to Barcelona and the Champions League embarrassment to Ajax, Solari's dismissal was virtually guaranteed.

What no one expected though was his replacement to be Zinedine Zidane, seeing as the Frenchman left the club just 10 months ago when they were in a much better position.

Reports suggest that the man who guided Los Blancos to three Champions League wins in a row has been given more power at the club, no doubt to do with transfers.

But even with his new power the club made an approach for a player before he was in place. According to the Telegraph, Real spoke to Chelsea about signing Eden Hazard in the summer.

The Belgian forward is a long term target for the Spanish side and he has not hidden his desire to one day play for the 13 times European champions.

Even more so the former Lille player wants to play under Zidane so the return of the Frenchman to the Bernabeu makes it even more likely he would move.

Hazard only has 12 months left on his deal and has shown no desire to sign a contract offer that is on the table, however the Blues would still want around £100 million for the forward.

There's likely to be a big overhaul at the Bernabeu this summer after this season's failure and the club not replacing Cristiano Ronaldo last year.

It seems only a matter of time till Hazard leaves with even the transfer ban hanging over Chelsea unlikely to stop him.

Is Christian Pulisic a ready made replacement for Hazard?
