There aren't too many things that could make like at Manchester United worse for the fans, apart from possibly David Moyes returning, but losing David de Gea on a free would be right up there.
Manchester United going on Match of the Day last in a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace isn't exactly what you'd expect from the 13 time Premier League champions, or last season's runners up for that matter.
That is the reality that faces United these days though. A side that have become all too ordinary in both their results and their performances, serving up a poor game against a struggling Palace and only just managing to draw at home.
From the David Moyes era to the current day not much has gone right at Old Trafford, although they've still managed an FA Cup win, a League Cup win and their first ever Europa League win.

Not much remains at United from the heady day of Sir Alex Ferguson, well apart from far too many of the players. But the one the club can't afford to lose is David de Gea.
According to the Daily Mail that is about to happen though. The paper reports that PSG are ready to make De Gea the highest paid goalkeeper with a £300k-a-week offer.
The Spaniard's contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season and he has delayed putting pen to paper so far, despite their being an offer on the table.

In January the 28 year old would be able to enter negotiations with clubs outside of England and the Ligue 1 champions are poised to offer him the huge deal.
With the French club having previous difficulty with FFP the free transfer would be beneficial for them, although they may still sell Neymar in the summer to fund De Gea's wages and other transfers.
The former Atletico Madrid goalie the only player to have won the club's Player of the Year award four times and has won them in the five seasons since Fergie left the club.

Amongst the top names that have been linked with moves away from United in recent past De Gea is the one that they would struggle to replace the most.
If Moyes replaces Mourinho then there really won't be anything left.
