PSG Star Admits To Thoughts Of A Barcelona Move

PSG Star Admits To Thoughts Of A Barcelona Move

Not ideal timing for a PSG player to admit to wanting a move to Barce right now.

There aren't many footballers in the world who wouldn't like a move to Barcelona, for Sunday League footballers admitting to that would be a bit of a stretch but if you're one of the best defenders in the world it makes more sense.

Whilst it's one thing to say you want to move to Barcelona it's probably not the best timing to do it on the same day that you're playing them in the Champions League.

The La Liga champions have a very tasty tie tonight as Europe's elite competition picks back up after a couple of months break as they face Paris St Germain in the French capital.

And as a blow to the French champions they'll have just heard that their captain Thiago Silva has admitted to having a long loving look at a move to the Camp Nou.

Talking to Mundo Deportivo the Brazilian centre back said:

"Have I sometimes wondered what it would be like at Barca?

"If I said no, I would be lying. But football is full of opportunities and I have no regrets. I am in a great team and we are growing.

"But yes, I have already thought about what it would be like to play with Messi, Suarez, Neymar, Iniesta, who I am a fan of."

Barca are almost constantly looking to strengthen their centre backs as defence is pretty much the only position on the pitch where you could argue they're weak.

Silva has been a transfer target of the former Champions League winners before as well but he decided to move to PSG from AC Milan instead.

The defender isn't even the first player this week from the club to admit to eyeing up a move to Catalunya with Marco Verratti also saying a move to Barca interests him:

"Even though I am currently in a good project and I feel at home, any player would play for Barcelona.

"They are still the best team in the world. They have the three best players in attack, and [Andres] Iniesta too. Iniesta, [Lionel] Messi and Neymar create a move in a second."

Could Silva and Verratti swap Paris for Barcelona this summer? It's a nice problem to have!
