PSG spent mega-bucks in the summer, and it seems like they are prepared to spend big again when the next summer window rolls around.

With the electric front three of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani firing on all cylinders, there's not much reason to bring in another attacking player, in all truth.

However, an area the Parisians are looking to improve on is central midfield, and they are on the hunt for a long-term replacement for Thiago Motta.

Chelsea's N'Golo Kante has been linked with moving back to Ligue One, but according to information from Paris United, who are typically reliable with PSG-related news, the Ligue One leaders are interested in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl.

The 22-year old has been touted as one of the most promising central midfield prospects for a while now, with Manchester City said to be admirers.

But PSG are keen on acquiring him, identifying him as someone who can take over from the ever consistent and reliable Motta.

Dortmund have a reputation for being tricky negotiators and are reportedly demanding at least €50 million for one of their key players. What could tempt them into selling though, is if PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

The German, formerly of Eintracht Frankfurt, has lost his place to rising star Alphonse Areola in between the sticks, is a target for BVB.

In other PSG news, it seems like they will need to have a bit of a clear-out due to their spending spree in the summer.

As per L'Equipe, four candidates have emerged as potential departees so the club are able to comply with FFP.

Hatem Ben Arfa is on the list and it's no surprise really given his current situation. The former Marseille, Newcastle United, Hull and Nice man was heavily linked with a move in the summer but nothing ever came to fruition.

The 30-year old hasn't made a single appearance for PSG this term and he's been touted as a potential signing for Leicester City boss Claude Puel in the January window. The two worked together at Nice, where Ben Arfa scored 18 goals in 37 appearances.

Furthermore, Argentine duo Javier Pastore and Angel Di Maria could both be set for moves away. Due to the arrivals of Neymar and Mbappe, the pair's first-team opportunities have been somewhat limited and they are not deemed indispensable. Former Palermo man Pastore has attracted interest from both Milan clubs, while Di Maria was courted by Barcelona in the summer.

Finally, completing the quartet is Brazil international Lucas Moura. Along with Di Maria, the former Sao Paulo man was linked with a move to Tottenham late in the summer transfer window, but remained in the French capital. He hasn't made a single start this season though, managing just 72 minutes from the bench in all competitions.
