Pep Guardiola Eyes £25 Million Summer Claudio Bravo Replacement

Pep Guardiola Eyes £25 Million Summer Claudio Bravo Replacement

Things haven't gone well for Claudio Bravo and he could get replaced.

For all the things that have gone right and wrong for Pep Guardiola in his short time at Manchester City so far probably the worst thing he's done is bringing Claudio Bravo in and in the summer he'll be remedying that quickly.

Right from the off Pep obviously decided that Joe Hart wasn't the man for him. Often a great shot stopper Hart had a perceived weakness in playing out from the back, something Guardiola loves his keepers to do, and in the ability to make one hell of a gaff.

"The new goalkeeper's crap, but that's none of my business"

So at the dawn of the season the Spaniard packed Hart's bags for him and sent him off on loan to Torino, partially because no one else wanted him. And in came former Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

But the Chilean's two Copa America titles in the last two summers and the ability to pass the ball have not helped him in the Premier League as he's been as calamitous as David James at his worst.

Now Portuguese site ZeroZero are reporting that City could be a lining up a move for Benfica's Ederson. The Portuguese goalkeeper has impressed in the Champions League and has a £25 million release clause in his contract.

Ederson holds onto the ball in Benfica's Champions League loss to Borussia Dortmund.

City paid £17 million for Bravo in the summer so another £25 million would be a pretty big outlay on keepers in the space of a year but they can't carry on with Bravo in between the sticks and Willy Caballero is only a back-up keeper.

Goalkeepers could be big business in the summer with Real Madrid once again being linked with David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois, a move for either could kick off a huge chain reaction of moves. Joe Hart will obviously move too.

Guardiola will need to strengthen his defence this summer too as two full backs and a central defender to play alongside John Stones have to be a priority.

Who do you think City will sign?
