West Bromwich Albion could be set to make one of the more ambitious moves of the January transfer window as they look to bring World Cup winner André Schürrle to the Hawthorns.

According to the Times, the Baggies have opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over a loan move for the German attacker, who has fallen out of favour with the Bundesliga club, despite being their record signing.

The 27-year-old joined BVB from Wolfsburg in 2016 but has failed to make much of an impression at Signal Iduna Park over the last two years and could now seek a return to the Premier League in order to boost his chances of going to this summer's World Cup with Germany.

Dortmund are even willing to subsidise the former Chelsea man's £140,000-a-week wages, although West Brom do also need to shift some players from their own wage bill before they can have any hope of completing a deal for the Germany international.

Schürrle spent one and a half seasons in the Premier League, between 2013 and 2015, making 65 appearances for Chelsea and scoring 14 goals, earning a Premier League winner's medal in 2015 despite joining Wolfsburg halfway through the campaign, in a £22 million deal.

The attacker's time with Wolfsburg wouldn't last much longer than his Stamford Bridge, with Schürrle spending just 18 months with Die Wolfe before moving to Dortmund.

Now, it appears as though the World Cup winner could be on the move again.

Although is six months working under Alan Pardew at West Brom the best move for the 27-year-old or would he better suited somewhere else ahead of the World Cup?
