Imagine Lionel Messi in the white of Real Madrid.

Well, it appears Los Blancos attempted to engineer a move in 2013 which included a private jet meeting between club president Florentino Perez, the player himself accompanied with his lawyers, per Spanish outlet El Mundo and AS.

Though a deal wasn't brokered.

Before the meeting, it's claimed Real Madrid were more than willing to trigger his insane release clause. A tidy €250 million was set to be tabled to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu.

And that's not it.

Real Madrid were also prepared to offer Messi €23 million per year until 2021 (a seven-year contract worth £400,000-a-week), not to mention putting pressure on the Spanish Prime Minister over the his tax issues.

Naturally, Real Madrid have denied the reports."Totally false." Shock. As expected, though.

The terrifying prospect of Cristiano Ronaldo and the Argentine spearheading a attack is f*cking scary, yet a mouth-watering vision.

Meanwhile, in 2018, Barcelona have continued their spending with the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool for £142 million, after drafting in Ousmane Dembele in the summer.

It was suggested Real Madrid wanted Egyptian hero Mohamed Salah in response to their rivals securing the services of the brilliant Brazilian.

Dele Alli, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and even Neymar continue to be heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital, with Perez hellbent on signing a 'Galactico'.
