Alberto Moreno may have struggled for minutes in a Liverpool shirt this season but in a remarkable move for the Spaniard, he is reportedly set for one of the most surprising transfers in years.

Spanish publication AS claim the 26-year-old is set to sign a two-year deal with the Catalan giants.

Moreno could be snapped up as cover for first choice left-back Jordi Alba next season.

The fact such a huge club like Barca are chasing the former Sevilla player is baffling to say the least. He has featured in just five games under Jurgen Klopp this season.

It was previously reported that Moreno was set to join Italian side Lazio after being pictured with former teammate Lucas Leiva, who currently plays at the Stadio Olimpico.

But it now looks Barcelona are favourites to sign the defender.

AS also suggest that Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic and Matthijs de Ligt are also transfers targets.

Moreno moved to England in 2014 and was the Reds' number one left back for his first two seasons.

But he was hit with serious criticism for a number of performances in recent seasons, especially in the Europa League final in 2016, and soon fell out of favour.

Thoughts on Barcelona's serious interest in Moreno? Will he be a useful player for the Catalan side?

Former Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise expressed his delight after one performance against Bayern in 2017.

"Moreno, can you turn it all around? Would freaking love it man! Even I doubted you, but things might change my fellow left back", while many, including Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, commented on his outstanding display.

Shortly after that game during his post match press conference, a reporter asked 'Does Alberto Moreno have a future at Liverpool?' to which Klopp replied 'If he keeps on playing like that, Yes'

Unfortunately it just hasn't worked out for the Spaniard since.
