Last time we saw Lukas Podolski he was saying the most perfect farewell to his international career that is possible, with a gloriously struck winner against England. Now the German has made the move to Japan.

Such is the wealth in talent in Germany that this summer has proved quite quickly that they aren't exactly going to miss Podolski but he did at least sign off in brilliant fashion in his glorified testimonial against England back in March.

Since then the Germans have gone on to win the Confederations Cup with a team that was without several world class players, including the likes of Marco Reus and Thomas Muller, and reached the final of the European under 21 championships.

Like when your ex goes about proving just how little they need you by going out with someone far more suited to them.

But Podolski has moved past that and having left Turkish side Galatasary at the end of last season he has quickly found himself a new team. The 32 year-old took to Twitter to confirm he'd joined Japanese side Vissel Kobe.

Podolski is best known for his time in the Premier League with Arsenal where he became somewhat of a cult hero for the Gunners and their fans, clearly investing emotionally in the club.

Last season the former Bayern Munich forward signed seven league goals for Galatasary but with his contract coming to an end he has decided to move to the Far East.

Many players have been moving to that part of the world but usually to the Chinese Super League. However it's the J-League fans who will get to enjoy his social media activity now.
