Pep Guardiola is aiming to solve Manchester City's current defensive woes by adding Bayern Munich's Holger Badstuber to the Citizens ranks on a six month loan deal.
City's defensive problems have been a major talking point of what has so far been a difficult debut season in the Premier League for Pep Guardiola, with Vincent Kompany spending most of the season injured, John Stones bereft of confidence and Nicolas Otamendi being, well, Nicolas Otamendi.

Guardiola was believed to be interested in bringing Southampton's Virgil Van Dijk to the Etihad Stadium, but it isn't thought that the Saints will entertain any offers for the Dutchman, this month.
So, with Van Dijk unattainable at the present time, the City manager will look to his old club for a stop gap solution and Badstuber appears to be his preferred option, with the 27-year-old struggling to make Carlo Ancelotti's starting XI on a regular basis, making just one appearance in the Bundesliga this season.

The Germany international has just six months left on his current deal at the Allianz Arena and, given the injury problems that have plagued his career and limited him to just 46 appearances in the last five seasons, it's unlikely Badstuber will remain in Bavaria after the end of the current campaign.
Guardiola will be praying that Badstuber can stay fit for the next six months and help alleviate the defensive frailties that could derail City's Premier League title challenge.
