Atleti's transfer ban expires in the new year

Atletico Madrid are looking to waste no time in bolstering their squad when their UEFA transfer ban is lifted in the new year and are targeting a Premier League player to help kickstart their stop-start 2017/18 campaign.

Los Rojiblancos were unable to sign any new players over the summer as they were still serving their UEFA enforced sanction, although they did agree a deal to bring striker Diego Costa back to the Spanish capital, with the former Chelsea man able to play from January onwards.

But Costa isn't the only new addition manager Diego Simeone wants to add to his squad, with the Argentinean manager also targeting a move for West Ham's Manuel Lanzini.

The Argentine attacking midfielder has been one of the few bright sparks for the Hammers over the last year or so as the club has struggled to recapture the form they enjoyed during the first season of Slaven Bilic's reign as manager.

Lanzini has found the net 16 times in 77 appearances for the Hammers since arriving from Al Jazira in 2014 and has also attracted the attention of other clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur.

With Dele Alli being monitored by several top teams from around Europe, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing a potential move for Lanzini in case he is unable to hold onto Alli for much longer. Although the Spurs boss isn't expected to wait until the end of the season to make his move for Lanzini, with reports suggesting he could make a bid for the 24-year-old as early as the January transfer window.

But where will Lanzini end up? Atleti? Spurs? Or will he remain at West Ham?
