Manchester United Set To Make Ridiculous Final Offer For Eric Dier

Jose Mourinho clearly wants to get his hands on the Spurs player but will they accept?

Manchester United are clearly desperate to sign a defensive midfielder to help with their Premier League title bid. According to one report they're ready to make a huge bid for Tottenham's Eric Dier.

Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward could be entering the busiest week of their summer, which is impressive considering they've made Romelu Lukaku potentially the most expensive player ever.

So far in this transfer window United have added Lukaku as well as central defender Victor Lindelof but they've stalled in the rest of their targets.

It looks like they could be about to add another primary target in the next week or so with Ivan Perisic reportedly demanding not to go on Inter's trip to China.

But it certainly feels like a defensive midfielder is now the position Mourinho most needs to strengthen and Spurs' Eric Dier has been interesting him.

There have been reports that United had a £50 million bid rejected and now the Daily Mirror report that the Red Devils are thinking of offering a final 'take it or leave it' £60 million offer.

Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba seem like obvious choices to play in United's midfield next season whilst Michael Carrick has been given the captain's armband with Wayne Rooney sold.

However it's unlikely that Carrick will be able to play in all of the team's games at the age of 35 and will need back-up in the defensive midfield position.

They had been after Chelsea's Nemanja Matic but so far the rumoured £40 million deal hasn't happened with some suggesting that the Blue's are taking revenge for United 'stealing' Lukaku.

The added positives to signing Dier is his ability to play centre-back and right-back which is ironically the downside to his time at Spurs with Mauricio Pochettino rarely playing him in his preferred position.

The Red Devils have had issues signing players from Spurs because of their relationship with Daniel Levy and £60 million seems like a lot of money for the 23 year old.

Could Dier be the next transfer for Mourinho?
