Manchester United have shelled out an enormous amount of cash this summer transfer window, though Spurs haven't spent a penny. But it appears the two clubs will go head-to-head for a £20 million rated signing.

Jose Mourinho has drafted in Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof in a combined deal worth £70 million. Though the club spent a whopping £75 million on Everton's Romelu Lukaku.

While Spurs have failed to recruit a single body this market despite selling Kyle Walker to Manchester City for a massive £50 million.

The club reportedly want to sign Ajax's highly-rated defender Davinson Sanchez. And reports continue to suggest that Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing up more defensive talent.

According to reports via The Daily Mail, Spurs are pursuing Porto's Ricardo Pereira.

The club sent out scouts to Portugal to watch the promising right-back in action as they seek to bolster the back line following the departure of Walker while providing competition for Kieran Trippier.

Though they face stiff competition. Manchester United also flew out representatives to Porto's fixture to watch the 23-year-old in action.

As well as the Premier League duo, Bundesliga pair Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund not to mention super-rich Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed an interest.

The Portuguese full-back can operate as a right-back or wing back and can also play on the left hand side.

After graduating from the Porto B team, he made his senior debut in 2013 before being sent out on loan to French side Nice.

He enjoyed two seasons where he rose to prominence after the club gained qualification to the Champions League, last season.

But Pereira has returned to his parent club with two impressive seasons under his belt and is now attracting plenty of interest around Europe.
