Manchester City Make Their First Signing Of The Summer

Manchester City Make Their First Signing Of The Summer

They'll no doubt be more to come.

Pep Guardiola would be the first person to admit his first season as Manchester City manager has not gone according to plan but he's already putting in to place a plan to make sure the club is successful for years to come.

City were expected to challenge for the title before the season started but they've never done that other than their run at the beginning of the season when they won 10 games in a row in all competitions before a 3-3 draw with Celtic in the Champions League.

Guardiola admitted the other day that he was lucky to still be in a job because a season like his at Barcelona or Bayern Munich would have likely seen him sacked for not winning the league.

Fortunately City are looking into a longer term future and will no doubt back their manager with another large mound of cash to splash on some much needed transfers.

City have actually made their first move of the season according to Sport Witness. The website report that the 'Turkish Donnarumma' Altınordu youngster Berke Özer is set to sign for City.

However it's not time for City fans to get too excited that they have the next Donnarumma on their hands who can go straight into the team at 16. Ozer isn't actually due to join the Premier League side till he turns 18.

Ozer has been playing for Turkey's under 17s in the recent U17 Euro Championships where City had sent scouts to keep an eye on him before doing the £2 million deal for the player.

The teenager has started two games in the Turkish second division this season making him the first player to be born this century to play senior football in Turkey, and make me feel stupidly old.

City have had some real issues in net. Guardiola let Joe Hart leave on loan and he's highly unlikely to come back into the fold at any point whilst his replacement, Claudio Bravo, has not had a good season.

They may sign the next Donnarumma for two years time but they still need a player for now!
