Liverpool have taken another step towards being the very early winners of the transfer window as they've agreed a fee with Lyon for the signing of French forward Nabil Fekir.

The Reds had a good season last term finishing fourth in the Premier League and getting to the final of the Champions League whilst playing some brilliant football at times.

All of that happened with Jurgen Klopp selling one of his side's best players half way through the season in Philippe Coutinho.

However the German didn't need the Brazilian in the end and he's spent the money he got from Barcelona very well already.

In January Virgil van Dijk signed to help shore up a defence that was looking pretty shakey. Naby Keita had already agreed to join this summer after the transfer window closed last August.

But that all pales in comparison when compared to their early window work. They've already signed Fabinho from Monaco and now, according to L'Equipe they and Lyon have agreed a deal for French attacker Nabil Fekir.

L'Equipe journalist Bilel Ghazi reports that the fee will be € 65m + € 7m of bonuses with the deal likely to be completed in the next day or so.

Previous reports had been that the Reds wanted to make sure the deal was done before the World Cup, a good tournament for the 24 year old would inevitably bump up the price and potentially produce competition for the signing.

The 24 year old scored 18 goals and set up eight more for his teammates in Ligue 1 last season. With the Reds already having Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah in their attacking ranks this is another great option for Klopp.

Can Liverpool compete with Manchester City for the title next season?
